Ensure the safe and responsible administration of medications. This video provides guidance on training requirements, medication protocols, best practices, and safety measures for residents’ wellbeing. It also briefly covers providing other types of personal care. 

Policy and Procedure 

This policy and procedure template sets out minimum requirements and best practice approaches relating to medication management, as well as additional guidance on providing other personal care services.

The following documents will aid your daily operations and compliance. These can be easily tailored to meet your residential services’ needs and operations. 

  • Guideline for Medication Assistance (Queensland Government) – as well as being the key guiding document for medication management in residential services, this document also contains the following supporting documents: 
    • Written Request for Assistance / Consent for Medication Assistance Form (Appendix 1) 
    • Medication Record (Appendix 2) 
    • Medication Distribution Record (Appendix 3) 
    • Staff Training Record (Appendix 4) 
    • Medication Incident Report Form (Appendix 5) 
    • Medication Record (Temporarily Offsite) Form (Appendix 7) 
  • Ambulance Form – this form is to be provided to paramedics or other emergency services personnel when a resident needs to go to hospital.
