Policy and Procedure 

This policy and procedure template sets out minimum requirements relating to food safety and preparation, guidance on ensuring residents receive high-quality, nourishing meals, and practical advice on preparing and storing food safely. 

Supporting Documents 

The following documents will aid your daily operations and compliance. These can be easily tailored to meet your residential services’ needs and operations. 

  • Staff Training Record – this document can be found at Appendix 4 of the Queensland Government’s Guideline for Medication Assistance and should be used to record all training undertaken by staff. 
  • Supplier Details Form – this document should be used to record the details of all food suppliers to your residential service. 
  • Food Receipt Form – this document should be used to record food received from suppliers and confirm it has been received in a safe condition. 
  • Cooking and Cooling Food Record – this document should be used to monitor and record the cooking and cooling of food, to ensure safe food temperatures are maintained. 
  • Temperature Record Sheet – this document should be used to monitor and record the temperatures of food on display, and other food, to ensure it is safe for consumption. 
  • Cleaning and Sanitising Procedure – this document should be used to set out specific cleaning and sanitizing procedures for your residential service’s kitchen facilities.  
  • Cleaning and Sanitising Record – this document should be used to record cleaning and sanitizing activities undertaken in your residential service’s kitchen facilities.
