DESCRIPTION

Based at Waterford in Logan, Sheltered by Grace has been operating since 2009. We provide support for men and women over the age of 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to mental health, addictions, domestic violence and other trauma.

We provide tailored support to help people regain stability and independence including:

• 24/7 supported accommodation: Sheltered by Grace offers a safe, secure living environment where clients can start their journey of recovery with the full support they need.
• Comprehensive case management: Each client has the option of being assigned a dedicated case manager who works closely with them to develop a personalised plan, addressing the underlying causes of their homelessness, whether it’s addiction, mental health issues, or personal trauma.
• Professional social workers: Our social workers provide ongoing support, connecting clients with external services, monitoring their progress, and helping them navigate complex systems such as housing, legal aid, and health care.
• Volunteer staff: We rely on a passionate team of volunteers who offer their time and expertise to assist in day-to-day operations, mentoring, and providing additional support to clients, creating a compassionate community that values every individual.
• Holistic Rehabilitation Recovery Program: This structured program focuses on rebuilding lives through life skills training, personal development, and community engagement, ensuring clients not only recover but thrive.
• Peer Support Program: Graduates of our program mentor new clients, creating a positive cycle of support that strengthens both the mentors and those they guide.
• Practical skill-building through projects: Initiatives like our syntropic garden and Tiny Home project teach valuable skills as part of our Life Skills 101 program ensuring sustainability, gardening, and construction, giving clients a sense of achievement and purpose.
• Working Through DV and Overcoming Trauma programs: Targeted programs help clients recovering from domestic violence and trauma, providing them with the tools and emotional support to rebuild their lives.
• NDIS respite accommodation: For NDIS participants, we provide short-term, self-contained accommodation with a focus on life skills and a sense of community.
• A charity dedicated to transformation: As a non-government funded charity, we rely on donations and grants, allowing us the flexibility to offer innovative programs that produce real, lasting results.
